Recalling the third mainland bridge
I realise how close we all are to falling
But the terror doesn’t throw us off the edge
Or tempt us to let the wheel go
Rather it pushes us farther and farther
Until we are stuck in more than one place.
At work, cause we must pay the bills
With family, that dally with prejudice
In relationships, with very tiny spark
In projects, that may never see daybreak
With needs, too much for economics to meet
Or visions, we or no one can interpret.
We’re all stuck in something
Perhaps a blend of peace and war
Until we find ourselves
Or just jump over.
